Annotation

The purpose of the article is to characterize civilization as the final stage of cultural development, which is driven by the creation of technology necessary to meet basic human needs. The object of the research is the concepts of O. Spengler, E. Kapp, P. K. Engelmeyer, M. Heidegger, E. Fromm, J. E. Golosovker regarding the essence of culture. The subject of the study is civilization in its technical content. A comparative analysis of these teachings allowed the authors to identify common and special features of a civilization created by human transformative abilities and consumer-driven intentionality (E. Kapp, P. K. Engelmeyer, B. I. Kudrin). The instrumental, techno-evolutionary understanding of technology hides the truth of Dasein (M. Heidegger), the relevance of which is possible under the condition of human existence according to the principle of being (E. Fromm). Civilization, in its technical content, is subject to the law of variability within the boundaries of consumerism, in which the meaning of existence is lost (Ya. E. Golosovker). The authors come to the conclusion that civilization is a form of culture aimed at static completeness, within which there is a constant reproduction of technology according to monotonous patterns determined by the consumer attitude of man to the “first nature”. As a result, the semantic component of being is lost, which characterizes the state (joint standing) of a personality in the lumen of truth, spirituality, as the foundation of culture.
