Annotation
The article examines the ethical problem of separation of a student from a mentor, which arises in the process of transmitting socio-cultural experience. The relevance of this study lies in the fact that the features of mentoring relationships in the context of modern prefigurative culture are undergoing changes, since traditional mechanisms
for transmitting experience are losing their significance. Particular attention is paid to two mentoring strategies — strategic and communicative, based on the theory of communicative action by J. Habermas. It is shown that effective mentoring in modern conditions is possible only with a synthesis of both approaches. Historical and philosophical aspects of the problem are studied, including an analysis of the views of ancient philosophers, Christian thinkers and representatives of modern philosophical thought. The necessity of implementing communicative action in mentoring activities is substantiated in order to establish a dialogue between subjects, facilitating meaning-making and independent joint activities.
