Annotation

The article outlines a view of psychoanalysis ideological framework, determined by the rationalistic worldview of its founder, Sigmund Freud. This issue is considered through the prism of Freud’s understanding, initial and in subsequent dynamics, of the concept of “unconscious” he introduced, its nature and role in the mental system and, as a consequence, the proposed ways of interacting with it. The relevance of the chosen topic is due to the continuing lack of consensus regarding the scientific status of psychoanalysis that necessitate further research into the methodological foundations of the classical version of psychoanalysis. The author attempts to show why the unconscious version proposed by the founder of psychoanalysis Sigmund Freud is purely rationalistic and, based on this, to identify the key problems of its practical applicability.
