Annotation

It is generally believed that the formation of modern man takes place in the context of globalization. Modern globalization processes exacerbate the issues of preserving the diversity of cultural traditions. The relevance of the topic is due to the social demand for understanding the prospects for preserving cultural diversity as a necessary basis for human self-identification in a globalizing world. To understand the prospects of preserving cultural diversity, the author chose the category of regionalization as opposed to the processes of globalization. The author agrees with P. Sorokin, who claimed that territorial ties are the strongest of all possible. To implement this task, the author turned to the consideration of the concepts of “region”, “regionalization”, “regionalism”, “global regionalization”. The article examines the processes of interaction between cultures and the concept of “cultural distance”. The author comes to the conclusion that the modern process of regionalization can be presented as an alternative model of structuring the world, asserting the uniqueness and diversity of cultural traditions.
