Annotation

The article examines the peculiarity of the formation of ancient Indian cities as a reflection of the religious and philosophical worldview. Interdisciplinary analysis includes: historical consideration of the problem of the formation of cities in the context of historical and cultural values; philosophical (historical-philosophical, ontological, aesthetic, sociocultural) consideration of the problem of the formation of the image of the city in accordance with ideological and ontological attitudes. The results of the interdisciplinary approach revealed that the urban planning of Ancient India was based on the religious and philosophical ideas of Brahmanism and Hinduism. The layout, social structure and architecture of ancient Indian cities were symbolic and sacred acts aimed at creating a harmonious and integral space, reflected in the Vedic canons.
