Annotation

The formation of the ethical theory of the Konigsberg philosopher is an important issue of historical and philosophical research, which determines the relevance of this study. The article is aimed at examining the problem of the influence of the philosopher of the German Enlightenment Christian Augustus Crusius on the practical philosophy of Immanuel Kant. The leading method in this article is a textual and conceptual analysis of these ethical systems. The article compares the moral research of thinkers based on a comparison of the ideas set out in their main works. The first part analyzes the treatise “A Guide to Intelligent Life”, which focuses Crusius’ views on practical disciplines. In the second part, Crusius’ ideas are compared with Kant’s research. The similarities found as a result of the study conclude not only about the coincidence of the orientation of the reflections of the two philosophers, but also about the probable terminological borrowing by Kant of certain concepts of Crusius. However, the question of Kant’s real inheritance to Crusius still cannot be answered with complete certainty, since Kant’s acquaintance with Crusius’ writings still remains a problematic topic for researchers. However, it is important to take into account that the statement about the absence of even the possibility of Kant’s contact with Crusius also seems incorrect. The results of the analysis allow us to identify one of the most important sources of Kantian moral philosophy.
