Annotation
The topic of international conflicts has never lost its relevance due to its inexhaustibility and naturalness of its own nature. However, a change in the direction of development of international relations, their actors, ways to achieve goals also change the nature of international conflicts as an integral part of the entire system of international relations at the present stage of development. The historically conditioned confrontation between Russia and the West has reached a new level in the 21st century, which requires scientific and philosophical understanding and justification. The purpose of the study is to study the theoretical aspects of explaining and understanding the causes and key factors of modern international conflicts. The work is based on an approach based on the position of strategic research, the main feature of which is the possibility and necessity to combine theoretical research with the practice of international conflict in order to develop a meaningful way out (or mitigation) of the conflict. This study presents key approaches that reveal the causes and underlying factors of modern international conflicts. Among them are political-systemic, geopolitical approaches, demographic theory and many others. The results obtained systematize a large array of disparate data on the issues under consideration, therefore, they can become the basis for theoretical knowledge about the causes of modern international conflicts. Also, the conclusions drawn will enrich the practice of resolving international conflicts and preventing their escalation in the future.
