Annotation

The article analyzes the main trends in the dynamics of value orientations of student youth based on the secondary analysis of the results of sociological studies and empirical surveys conducted within the framework of the study commissioned by the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia “Study of Trends in the Development of Value Orientations of Student Youth in the Context of Formation of the Civil Identity of Russian Students”. The civic identity of student youth as the basis of national self-consciousness is in the process of profound changes driven by an internal conflict between traditional and liberal values. This contradiction permeates all levels of value consciousness. The contradictory synthesis of these value systems gives rise to the phenomenon of value dissonance, which manifests itself in the discrepancy between nominal ideas and real manifestations of value orientations. Value dissonance is systemic and manifests itself in all components of self-consciousness of student youth. Multidirectional trends in the dynamics of value orientations of student youth determine the significance and role of educational and upbringing technologies in the university. In the formation of students’ value orientations, a special role belongs to the disciplines of the humanitarian cycle. The content of the humanitarian disciplines contains information about the value-significance and proper. By developing the student’s critical thinking, the humanitarian disciplines allow him to make a conscious choice of life strategy based on humanistic values.
