Annotation
The article is devoted the new feminist ideas that emerged in Japanese literature in the late XIX – early XX centuries. On the example of the life and works of the poet Akiko
Yosano, the author consideres the major changes that have occurred in the minds of the intellectual part of Japanese society and how they are reflected in literature. The article reveals the problems of development of female self-consciousness in Japanese society.
